On June 27, 2015, The Most Reverend Michael Bruce Curry was elected Presiding Bishop and Primate of the Episcopal Church at the 78th General Convention of the Episcopal Church meeting at Salt Lake City, Utah. I had the great blessing of attending the Convention as a guest and witnessed the excitement and joy surrounding Bishop Curry’s election. For me it was especially meaningful because he had served as the Bishop of North Carolina, my home state. I am including a few photos which I took at the Convention.
Almighty Father, we thank you for feeding us
with the holy food of the Body and Blood of your Son,
and for uniting us through him in the fellowship of your Holy Spirit.
We thank you for raising up among us faithful servants for the ministry
of your Word and Sacraments.
We pray for Michael, our Presiding Bishop and Primate,
may he be to us an effective example
in word and action, in love and patience, and in holiness of life.
Grant that we, with him. may serve you
now, and always rejoice in your glory;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever. Amen.
